Mediterranean Region has hosted many civilizations throughout the history. Today, twenty-one modern states have a coastline on the Mediterranean Sea.
These countries are: • Europe: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece and Turkey, Cyprus
SPAIN: Spain is a unique country on the Iberian Peninsula at the western end of the Mediterranean Sea. This exotic country owns plenty of World Heritage Sites, and is second to Italy. It has friendly inhabitants, a relaxing lifestyle, unique cuisine, an attractive nightlife, and world-famous folklore and festivities. In Spain, one can see worth visiting major cities such as Madrid, the world wide popular and attractive capital and Barcelona, Valencia, Sevile, Granada and Canary Islands. Spain is a surprise to those who only know its reputation for great beach holidays. It is also a country of large geographic and cultural diversity with roots lying back to thousands of years ago. Flamengo music and dancing for instance is among features very characteristics of Spain. This beloved country which is a great destination for most travelers has great beaches, fun nightlife, many cultural regions and historic cities. FRANCE: France is one of the most important countries located in the France has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean in the west and a coastline along the Mediterranean in the South. This diverse country attracts the highest number of tourists every year totalling up to a figure of some 80 million (and over). The country is home to some of the greatest treasures in Europe. The people of France are prosperous and mostly well educated. With its major tourist attractions, such as Paris, Côte d’Azur (the French Riviera), the Atlantic beaches, the winter sport resorts of the Alps, the Castles of Loire Valley, Brittany, Normandy: Mont Saint Michel France is certainly going to keep its leading place in the tourism business in the coming years as well. ITALY: Italy lies in Southern Europe and has a long coast on the Mediterranean. This country has been home to the Great Roman Empire for hundreds of centuries and thus hosts numerous World Heritage Sites. The capital city is Rome with many an ancient sites from Romas especially. Tourists visiting Italy also have the opportunity of visiting beautiful sights in cities like Venice and tasting delicious local food. Italy also has a world wide reputation in fashion, luxury sports cars, and sky centers. It would only be fair to mention how football is a way of life in this country and the success of Italian football. GREECE: : The country of Greece lies on the Balkan peninsula in the South Eastern Europe, with coastlines and islands in the Aegean, Ionian in Southern Europe, and Mediterranean Seas. It neighbors with Albania, the FYROM, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Greece is known as the craddle of civilization and possesses an ancient culture with a significant influence on the arts, language, philosophy, politics, and sports of western societies. Drama, western alphabet, democracy are known to have originated in Greece. Moreover the country is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations and has plenty of beautiful sights to offer foreign visitors. It has nice beaches and reliable sunny summer weather, a charming nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty. A small country with 11 million people only is known to receive tens of millions of visitors each year. TURKEY: Turkey is a vast and varied country boasting incredible landscapes and natural wonders bordered by four different seas. Well known as a great destination for relaxing beach holidays, it also offers many sporting activities, some of the world’s most important ancient monuments, welcoming Turkish hospitality and a delicious and varied national cuisine. Due to Turkey’s diverse geography, one can experience four different climates in any one day. The rectangular shaped country is washed on three sides by three different seas. Its shores are laced with beaches, bays, coves, ports, islands and peninsulas. The summers are long, lasting as long as eight months in some areas. Turkey is also blessed with majestic mountains and valleys, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and grottoes perfect for winter and summer tourism and sports of all kinds.
In spite of the general impression that “Egypt is pyramids and ancient monuments”, there is much more to discover, in this exotic country. For instance, one can enjoy beautiful sun & sea holidays on the beautiful Mediterranean coast of this oriental country. Generally speaking Egyptians are friendly people, ready to welcome visitors from all over the world, and ready to help in all situations.
