Port of Alicante“Costa Blanca” meaning “White Coast” is one of the most important touristic regions of Spain. The name comes from the many miles of beautiful, white, sandy beaches stretching from the town of Denia in the north to the holiday resort of Torrevieja in the south of the Province of Alicante (Region of Valencia).

You will find that this place offers people so much with big, brash beachside resorts with sky-scraper hotels and all-night discos; but, there are also plenty of quaint, quiet bays and fishing villages, to make your holiday an unforgettable one.

Alicante City is the capital of the province with an attractive center, port and beaches. It has quite a compact city centre, with plenty of tourist attractions quite close to each other – making life easy to see all, around the historical part of Alicante called the “Barrio”, in specific.

A tram service connects beautiful sandy beaches of 15 km length – including the San Juan Beach, to the main harbour area in Alicante. A regular bus service is available in this area, as well.

One thing tourists do not forget to do in the town is taking a walk along the “Esplanada”, a well kept seafront promenade, with superb views and lined with palm trees.

Among popular tourist attractions here are the lively marina area, regular performances at Alicante’s Theatre, shopping around the “Plaza del Puerto Viejo”, and a nightlife for people of all ages.

The Santa Barbara castle dominates the city offer some splendid views. One can find a lot of places in the marina to have coffee or wine. In the small historical  quarter called El Barrio there are plenty of bars and clubs.

Boats are avaliable for hiring as well. Another option is to go on pleasant boat trips around the harbour and to the local island of Tabarca.

For art lovers Alicante is full of options such as concerts, operas, ballet and jazz performances which take place in the local theatre.

You can visit most of these attractions in Alicante throughout the year. However it could be best to not to prefer August and September which are usually real warm for people coming from European countries.
