Akyaka, Turkey.. A Center for Coastal Protected Areas
Mayıs 22, 2011 | Holiday Resorts in the Mediterranean
AKYAKA is situated on the GÖKOVA Gulf, in Mugla district which is one of the richest regions in the world, for holiday resorts (Bodrum, Fethiye, Marmaris and more).
AKYAKA, though a small village in the same region with a population of about 2000 people, only, attracts a lot of tourists – both foreign and domestic – in the holiday season and throughout the year as well.
In summers, it obviously becomes overcrowded. The interesting thing however is you will hardly feel disturbed in AKYAKA as it is a calm place with happy people in search of peace, the sun and the sea.
The village is situated on the mountainous landscape which brings the advantage of offering visitors a beautiful sea view. Moreover you can go up the mountains and enjoy the beautiful view of GOKOVA Gulf.
AKYAKA is famous for its boat cruises, birds, beautiful scenery, fresh air, fine sand and wonderful sea.
AKYAKA is also famous for its worldwide known architect NAIL CAKIRHAN and unique houses he has designed with red roofs and certain size of windows and colors.
You can go to AKYAKA by flying to either DALAMAN airport or MILAS airport after which you take a taxi or transfer to the village. The journey from either airports would take about an hour on a fine road with beautiful scenery.
AKYAKA is also famous for its worldwide known architect NAIL CAKIRHAN and unique houses he has designed with red roofs and certain size of windows and colors.
In AKYAKA one can find new beautiful hotels with similar design as houses typical of the village. There are some relatively larger hotels too such as YUCELEN HOTEL and OTTOMAN RESIDENCE. For visitors with smaller budgets accommodation in apart hotels, pansiyons, bungalows and camping is also available. For caravan lovers to come down and park in GOKOVA FOREST the place would have a lot to offer, for instance.
AKYAKA could certainly be referred to as the ideal place for families who would not be in search of bars with loud (and disturbing) music etc.
For those with bigger budgets villas for rent with sea view and pool would be available, too.
One should not forget to do something though; Reserve a room in advance.. as the place is normally fully booked in the high season.
