HISTORICAL & TOURISTIC SITES : Some of the greatest historical sites in the world are certainly located in the Mediterranean region. Among the countries in the region Turkey takes the lead in the number of such attractions.
TURKEY: Turkey is located on the origination land of many civilizations throughout history and has plenty to offer to history lovers. The land of Anatolia carries marks from ancient civilizations such as Hittites, Lydians and Urartus. These remainings can be seen in museums and ancient city excavations in and around Ankara. Ancient Greeks have also settled down in Southern and Western Turkey where thousands of years of history can be observed. Moreover Muslim Ottomans who ruled this land until less than 100 years ago have carved their marks in to the history of Turkey. State-of –the-art pieces of art such as mosques, carvansaraies and schools seen in northwestern turkey are typical examples of the Ottoman art.
SPAIN: Over the centuries, Spain’s indigenous and conquering peoples have left an indelible legacy. Cromlechs and cave paintings from the prehistoric period, temples and aqueducts from the Roman occupation, Romanesque churches, Moorish baths, mosques and fortresses, medieval cathedrals and castles, Renaissance and Baroque palaces, the modernist architecture of Antoni Gaudí and his contemporaries, as well as present-day masterpieces like the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao and the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. Salamanca, Seville, Cordova, Granada are among regions where one can observe the most powerful historical traces in Spain
FRANCE: France a prominent country at the heart of Europe throughout timehas one of the richest historical heritages of any country in the world. One can see several monuments, including ancient cathedrals, fortified castles, magnificent chateaux and palaces, historic towns and city centres, and a range of other sites including prehistoric caves, Paris among all the regions has a considerable number of such heritages. Some very precious treasures are kept under lock at the Vatican Museum. Temple of Apollo: Famous Temple to the god of healing and the sun. The ancient temple was built in middle of the 5th century BC. The temple of Apollo Epikourios is considered one of the most important temples in antiquity. The temples stands in the rocky landscape of Bassae. Acropolis, Athens: The Acropolis is the site of four of the greatest masterpieces of classical Greek art. The four famous monuments are: The Parthenon, The Propylaea, The Erecchtheum and the Temple of Sthena Nike. The monuments illustrate the civilizations, myths and religions that flourished for over 1,,000 years.
